Smt. Usha received a Master’s degree in Kuchipudi Dance from the University of Hyderabad, along with the distinction of earning a gold medal.
Smt. Usha was a disciple of renowned gurus Padmasri Dr. Sobha Naidu garu, Sri Hemadri Chidambara Deeksitulu garu and Smt. Vempati Nageswari garu.
As a prodigious child artist Smt. Usha has performed the lead role in a popular devotional movie “Ayyappa Swamy Mahatyam”. Guru Sri Hemadri Chidambara Deekshitulu featured her in a well known Kuchipudi text called “Kalasagaram”.
An accomplished performer, Smt. Usha has given innumerable performances in India and abroad. She is an empanelled artist in the Indian Ministry of Culture.
Smt. Usha founded Abhinaya Kuchipudi Art Academy in 1997 in Nallagandla, Hyderabad and now also in the San
Francisco Bay Area in the US. The institute imparts various courses and training to students in these locations and online.
Smt. Usha is pioneering a novel approach to Kuchipudi dance by integrating it with other related art forms such as Carnatic music, Talam, Yoga and Literature with an emphasis on Hindu mythology, spirituality and temple iconography.
Tailoring her instruction to each student’s
emotional disposition, she fosters deep connections,providing a source of comfort and solace through dance. Smt. Usha’s students have won the prestigious CCRT dance scholarship and many other
accolades.
